“I started training with Diana a little over a year ago. She changed my life. She offered me great challenges but more importantly she helped build my confidence back up so that I could move forward in my life. When I first walked in to her studio I was a bit intimidated. Here was this very talkative, confident person and me being very shy and very quiet. Diana had this loud voice and eyes that seemed to look right through me. I felt as if I had to tell her nothing about myself because she already knew. My training originally started with speech in hopes of moving onto singing. I made it to the fifth session when I was confronted with the dreadful truth from Diana. She told me that she could not help me, and that she would refund my money. She suggested that I move on to something else. My heart was broken. I drove back home crying all the way. As the week passed my sadness turned to anger and I called Diana and told her I wanted to continue with the speech training. This was my turning point. At the time I did not understand why Diana said what she said, but I certainly do now. She was reaching inside to bring out who Joy was, and that was a fighter. I worked hard for the rest of the year and finally hit a point where I could sing and speak with confidence. Over that year I gained new confidence along with a new job. I continue on with these newly found traits. Diana has not only been a wonderful teacher to me, she has also been a great friend. I am lucky to have crossed paths with her. Joy moved on to do motivational speaking around the country.

Below please see the open letter, written by Stacy Jax, of Wisconsin USA, regarding her Daughter Tory Jax, who underwent 40 hours of our unique instruction coupled with natural herbal and some homeopathic treatments in April 2023: 

To Whom It May Concern, 

Our 17-year-old daughter has had asthma and struggles with breathing since birth.  She’s been on a daily steroid since age 4 and various other life-saving medications. We’ve consulted with practitioners for the past 15 years that include doctors from the state of Washington to the state of New York, Texas, and all throughout the United States. 

In August, during the hot, humid weather in Wisconsin, and a rigorous volleyball practice at the high school, she went into an asthma attack while her medication, after multiple attempts, did not help at all. She was too embarrassed to call an ambulance but felt for the first time that she was going to die. Tory texted her older sister (because she couldn’t talk at this point) and Elliotte drove her to the ER.

After evaluation, the doctor was able to get Tory’s breathing slightly under control with some medications and told us she had a flare-up of her vocal cords – vocal cord dysfunction. When I asked the doctor what happens when her meds don’t work. He said that Tory would pass out from not being able to breathe, and ultimately once passed out, her muscles would start to relax, and there would be a pathway to bring oxygen to her lungs.

Essentially, Tory would pass out thinking she was dying because she can’t breathe and then would hopefully wake up again. That was not OK with me and how terrifying for Tory to be involuntarily suffocated by her own body. 

We started googling remedies for vocal cord dysfunction and found The Royans Institute for Non-Surgical Voice Repair in Toronto Canada. Headed by Diana Yampolsky. I cannot say enough about her treatment, expertise and successful case studies that even include spasmodic dysphonia patients.  The stories she told us included several people who have had a complete recovery with a wide variety of vocal challenges. 

Diana is professional, knows how to repair the voice and has been able to get many people to recover who thought their only option was surgery or, otherwise, they were given a choice to learn how to live with their voice in a less-than-ideal capacity. In fact, I would like to encourage Presidential Candidate of the United States of America RFK Jr. (a sufferer of a very nasty voice disorder which is called Spasmodic Dysphonia), to seek out Diana. There is a very strong word which I rarely use, HOWEVER, I WOULD IMPLORE HIM TO DO SO!

Now back to Tory; It was a difficult eight-day treatment regimen for Tory. By day 3, we could tell her breathing was better and she didn’t need her daily inhaler or her emergency inhaler since Diana’s very “out-of-the-box” instruction and treatment.

Hello Diana, I hope you are keeping well and safe! I am wishing to advise that I completed Day 14 of my herbal remedies yesterday and just starting Day 15 today. Once again I have noticed that quite a lot of mucous has been expelled. My voice is quite smooth. No reflux or breathing problems. Still only couple of spasms. No migraines or sinus symptoms. No sore throat and ears are feeling good. Also I did not mention that my digestion is good. No swollen glands and no problems with swallowing.

Another thing I forgot to mention which I think is a type of spasm which was a hiccup sound. It was very ferocious at times and it would cut my breathing off. This happened a lot when I became stressed of trying to push words out when I tried to speak. Since taking my herbal remedies this has gone. Now I will be finishing my herbal remedies this Thursday afternoon.

It is now 8:30am Tuesday morning my time and I believe it is 4:30pm Monday your time. The difference of time is 16 hours. I can still call you say 8am Thursday morning your time which would make it midnight my time. I have just completed Day 13 and here is my progress report as follows:I have found that more thick stringy mucus has been expelled. Now I just have a couple of spasms. I am feeling so much better and have just completed day seven!
 
My spasms have diminished almost entirely. Only had a few little spasms. So much more mucous has been expelled. My breathing is so much easier. I have had no sinus pain or headaches or migraine headache. No swelling around my glands and throat. I also have/had no reflux.
 
My husband has noticed s a big difference in my health and he says I look so much better. He has noticed when I speak that my voice is much smoother and no spasms. I am absolutely amazed at how wonderful these herbal remedies have worked. Words cannot express how good I am feeling and I am so much happier!

​​Sulcus vocalis sufferers usually acquire a raspy and hoarse voice and can also begin to sound like they delay their speech somewhat, that is due to the enlarged gap between their vocal cords, which, in this instance, their voice falls in between the vocal cords. 

The timing of the opening and closing of the vocal cords does not correspond with the voice’s occurrence; therefore, the above-described symptoms prevail. By that point, the “alignment” between the subconscious mind, conscious mind, physical body and the vocal component becomes compromised.  

So the full aim (using specially developed speech and when needed, singing exercises) is to put the “alignment” between those mentioned above components back in order. That would allow the voice sufferer to achieve total balance mentally, physically, physiologically, emotionally and, nevertheless, vocally. Once the integration and synergy between the described components are achieved, the vocal cords will be “commanded” to get back to their original space and, nonetheless, width between them. 

This revolutionary Vocal Science™ technique and nevertheless, particular application of the voice also applies to singers, especially those with any kind of vocal disorder, and those who would like to start the voice/vocal healing by bringing their speaking and singing voice into proper order.
